Sample Beyond Beliefs

Frances entered the room and greeted, "Good morning, boss. Black coffee, no sugar, and a spinach-barley grass smoothie." Frances, an attractive woman in her thirties with brown shoulder-length hair, a hint of red, and some freckles around her nose, giving her a girlish appearance, had been working as Robert's assistant for two years, and he liked her a lot.

She held out a white ceramic mug and a large glass of brightly green liquid. "Spinach-grass... what?" Robert replied, slightly disgusted, examining the smoothie. "You can't be serious, Mrs. Anderson. Not at this hour!"

"A good morning or a thank you, dear Frances, would have been sufficient. Sweet of you, Frances, to care about my health. Thank you, Frances, for everything, actually," she grinned at her boss.

Robert had to smile for the first time in a long while. "Thank you, Frances, the world's best assistant." "There you go," she smiled, handing the cups to Robert. He placed the coffee to the right of his computer keyboard. Then, he cautiously smelled the neon-green smoothie. "Don't worry, it won't bite!" teased Frances. Robert slowly brought the glass to his lips, tilting it just enough to moisten his lips. "Mmmmh, delicious!" said Robert, taking a big sip. "See, occasionally trying something new and ditching old beliefs," Frances commented on her boss's brave sip. "Wow, how deceiving appearances can be. Green is just green, but this actually tastes, well, what does it taste like? Banana for sure, and lemon. The name implies spinach, but what about barley grass?"

"You don't know Hordeum vulgare? Where have you been for the past few years? Ever heard of superfood? No, just kidding. I bought the drink because I liked the color for you." Robert's jaw dropped. "You can't be serious; you could have poisoned me." "Oh, come on," waved Frances off. "For one, the place has been running since I started, and secondly, I googled the stuff. Barley grass powder is a nutrient powerhouse, plus minerals, vitamins, and more."

"Alright, I guess I'm ready for the day now. What's on the agenda?" Robert took another sip of his green smoothie, opened his MacBook, and clicked on the calendar. Before he could get an overview, Frances told him everything in order - without even glancing at her documents. Names, times, and details. She was simply incredible and, if one were honest, overqualified.

"Hold on, Superbrain. Not everyone has your quick grasp. Two questions?" Robert held up two fingers and looked at her with a question mark on his forehead. "Ok, shoot," was her brief reply. "Thanks. First, what about the Chinese? Do we have an interpreter? Second, what's that big block from 2 PM to 8 PM?" Frances now held up three fingers. "Those were three questions, which I can, of course, answer for you. First, you're meeting with the Chinese delegation for lunch at 12 noon. Second, our interpreter is sick, but I'm working on a solution. As for your last question, during that time frame, a certain Elmar DeBough is coming, a Being Potential Coach and Chakra Therapist." "Being Potential? What's that again?" Robert furrowed his brow and looked at Frances. "Boss, we discussed that today already. Think about your smoothie. You need to try something new here and there." Frances winked in slow motion and gave a thumbs up. "Are you joining us for lunch?" Robert changed the subject. "If your Highness wishes," she replied. "I wish it," King Robert said with a benevolent gesture of his arm. "Your wish is my command," Frances laughed and bowed. "Oh yes, don't forget the meeting with Paul at 10."
